What was the highlight of Casas Da Lapa, Nature & Spa Hotel
Wonderfull excape in the mountains.
The location is exceptional. The staff is delightful and kind. The decoration is tasstfull and integrates perfectly with the setting.
Some amenities are somewhat unecessary and feel like afterthought or just checkmarks, sacrificing a feeling of cosiness for crampedness in a small package.

Amazing little hotel in a perfect location for exploring Serra da Estrela
Breakfast is not buffet but includes everything you would normally ask for in a buffet (this is done to prevent food waste which I agree is a good move, you can ask for as much more as you like), the items on breakfast were very good quality too. The dinner menu was very good. The staff are extremely accommodating to pets, we brought our two dogs and we were treated very well. The surrounding area has a lot of routes for exploring which are off-roads, perfect for exploring with canine companions, the hotel itself is an excellent base camp for visiting most of the areas of interest in Serra da Estrela. What we found amazing are the natural waterfalls within the hotel; a tip if you enjoy bracing the cold is go to the sauna and then enjoy the waterfall shower!
Small points of things we did like are firstly that they didn't quite know how to prepare good poached eggs when requested! Dinner was very nice although I would argue is slightly overpriced for what you can, the main of lamb was nice but you can eat better in the restaurants around the area. When we went, the indoor pools have slightly broken tiles where the water line meets the edge of the pool, BEWARE as those small broken tiles are razor sharp and I cut myself when placing my hands on there when swimming. We informed the staff and they were aware of it and although someone else had cut themselves before also, they said they are planning on fixing it but surprisingly they never thought of putting a warning sign despite this having happened on multiple occasions. Not a good look for a health and wellness spa, I hope they fix it soon or place a sign as although these are small negatives for me, others may want to be aware of this.
